Vrijdag Premium Printing has received ISO 14001:2015 certification to add to the company’s long-standing ISO 9001 certification. The Eindhoven-based producer of labeling and packaging drives for consistent quality and sustainability.

As a result of its sustainable efforts, following a thorough audit process, the company was awarded ISO 14001:2015 certification last month. The ISO standard is an internationally recognized hallmark of environmentally friendly management systems. As part of the audit, Vrijdag Premium Printing’s environmental policy was assessed on grounds of development, implementation, management and execution. In particular, ISO 14001 assesses companies for correct compliance with applicable laws and regulations, and promotes continued improvement of environmental performance.

“More and more of our stakeholders are inquiring into our policy and performance in relation to the environment and sustainability,” says Henk Nota, managing director at Vrijdag Premium Printing. “And so we felt it was time to have our policy independently assessed.”

At around the same time as receiving ISO 14001 certification, for the second time running, Vrijdag Premium Printing also signed the MJA-3 covenant: a multi-annual agreement between companies and the Dutch government aimed at energy efficiency. In recent years, Vrijdag Premium Printing achieved energy savings of 8.6%. The firm’s goal for the following three years is to reduce energy consumption by a further 8%.

“Energy efficiency contributes towards our achieving both the sustainability and economic targets we have set ourselves, and will help strengthen our competitive position,” Nota adds.
